Māgha (माघ) māsa, Śukla Pakṣa Pañcamī, at मध्याह्नः
“माघमासे नृपश्रेष्ठ शुक्लायां पञ्चमीतिथौ।
रतिकामौ तु सम्पूज्य कर्तव्यः सुमहोत्सवः॥
Māgha Shukla Panchami is considered as Shri Panchami or Vasanta Panchami. In Northern Bharat, pūjā of Lakshmi Devi sameta Mahavishnu, Rati Devī sameta Kāma Deva, and Vasanta Deva is performed on this day. A great utsava is done wearing new clothes, playing instruments and singing in Vasanta Raga. Such traditions are recorded in compilations such as Vrata Rāja, Jayasimha Kalpa Druma, Nirnaya Sindhu etc. It is important to pray to Bhagavan to give us the happiness to celebrate life, and the prosperity and physical vigour needed to take Dharma forward including begetting Dharmic progeny.Names
