Jyeṣṭha (ज्येष्ठ) māsa, Śukla Pakṣa Pratipat
ज्येष्ठकृत्यं भविष्योत्तरे---
पिष्टेन कञ्जजं कृत्वा ज्येष्ठे मासि सवेदिकम्।
पुष्पैः सम्पूज्य गन्धाद्यैर्नानावस्त्रविभूषणैः॥
वर्षकोटिशतं साग्रं (ब्रह्म/सूर्य)लोके महीयते।
कञ्जजो ब्रह्मा।
वामनपुराणे---
उदकुम्भाम्बु धेनुश्च तालवृन्तं सचन्दनम्।
त्रिविक्रमस्य प्रीत्यर्थं दातव्यं ज्येष्ठमासि च॥ इति।
jyaiShTha-mAsaH begins today — In the month of Jyeṣṭha, one should fashion an image of Kañjaja (i.e., Brahmā, born from a lotus) using flour (piṣṭa) and install it along with a pedestal (vedikā). Worship it with flowers, perfumes, various garments, and ornaments. By doing so, one is honored in the realm of Brahmā or Sūrya (pAThAntaram) for more than a hundred crore years! In Vamana Purana, it is said that, to please Trivikrama, one should perform dAna of a pot of water, a cow, a fan made from palmyra leaves (tālavṛnta), and sandalwood.Names
